Christmas at Tels

Eccoci qua, questi siamo noi…
Merry Christmas.
I Viaggi e Il Mondo di Tels

From Mr Tels:
Cari Amici,
[continua a leggere in italiano] [Read the English version]

Who is Mr Tels? – John Lasseter + Listening Comprehension

We shook John Lasseter’s hand! (and asked him some questions, since we were there anyway).

Wait a minute!

Oh yes, it’s not a mystery anymore that our ex-students Simon and Jack pushed their own way through the crowd at Pixar’s Press Conference in Milan to interview John Lasseter, Director and Producer of many Pixar films, and Chief Creative Officer of Pixar Animation Studios.

Here they are! Our Men in Black carrying out their mission. [click for full view]

Who are the two mysterious Men in Black spotted near Pavia?

We found a mysterious picture this morning. Seems that someone is sniffing around to find out more about our friend Mr Tels. Who is that person looking for him? Why is he holding a card with that logo?

We don’t know anything about him, the only thing we can tell is that he’s not alone. Which leads us to the first rule.

Rule #1: A Man in Black is never alone.

And what about that strange background?

Who is Mr Tels - Mysterious Man

We sent our whistleblowers to the area where we found the first picture; they confirmed that the Man in Black is not alone. They are sure there is a second collaborator, and they are leaving a trail of breadcrumbs behind them. They may want us to chase them to the place where they’re hiding something big.

Rule #2: Follow the breadcrumbs to find the big thing.

We are close to our target. In a couple of days we are pretty sure we’ll discover more.

Where are they hiding? What are they hiding? Why do they know Mr Tels and what do they know more about him that we don’t?

Rule #3: Trust a Man in Black: he always has something interesting to show you.

Photographic History Hunt – The Winning Team

A storm welcomed our students at the Count Me In Party last Saturday.

Most of you chose to stay indoor, nibbling, chatting and meeting Tels friends, welcomed by the comfortable warmth of the lounge bar Loft 10, in Piazza Cavagneria, Pavia.

Who could blame you! ;) It was a pleasure to see you and your cheerful participation with the people you befriended this summer.

It has to be said, though, that a couple of diehards have been brave enough to face the challenge we launched: umbrellas taken up, they jumped into puddles and shot the 4 pictures required to win our Photographic History Hunt.

Well done Giorgia and Camilla, led by Giulia, of the “Fashion Stalkers” team!

You won the prize we raffled off, a special t-shirt designed by the Creatives of threadless.com

The London Fashion Freezemob was performed by Winchester Classic and York students in Trafalgar Square, London, at 11.00 am, 1st August 2011.

The aim was to cheer up Trafalgar Square, freezing in various motion poses or acting like models on a catwalk. Everyone tried to be original and creative, choosing different poses and frozen movements to perform.

Videomaking Workshop

Inserito il
videomaking workshop in York

Camera training on our 1st day of videomaking

1 week to learn how to use a videocamera and edit a video, to discover all the secrets behind special effects and film making.

Videomaking workshop in York

Let's pretend to be BBC journalists for 1 week!

That’s what the students in York have been doing this past week under the supervision of John and Stephen, professional videomakers who helped them achieve a real knowledge of this “art” and all its fascinating techniques.

How do you decide what will go inside a video? You prepare a script.
How do you put together different shots to make one videoclip? By computer editing them.
How can you add new elements to your video (and these elements don’t even exit)? Try with a green screen and some other amazing special effetcs!

Here are some examples of what the students have learned and produced.
